King in the Wilderness review

Posted : 2 years, 2 months ago on 12 February 2022 03:02 (A review of King in the Wilderness)

It really changed me to witness MLK during his final years. Powerful film full of critiques that must be merged with mass protest. Unfortunately, there are some moments in the documentary that I thought were bad takes such as the minor demonizing of riots.

Wall Street review

One of Oliver Stone's best films that offers legitimate critiques of the American capitalist system increasingly becoming a corporate oligarchy.

Nightmare Alley review

Posted : 2 years, 2 months ago on 12 February 2022 02:44 (A review of Nightmare Alley)

I was thoroughly entertained from start to finish. Very interesting characters, but not as much depth and style as Guillermo's better films like Pan's Labyrinth and Pacific Rim.

World Trade Center review

Posted : 2 years, 2 months ago on 12 February 2022 02:39 (A review of World Trade Center)

This is a powerful and underrated film that focuses on the 9/11 event in the perspective of Port Authority police officers. Such stories are never told. Unfortunately, there isn't much content to critically reflect on.

Platoon review

Posted : 2 years, 2 months ago on 3 February 2022 08:53 (A review of Platoon)

One of the most emotionally powerful and realistic depictions of the Vietnam war. This is anti-war cinema at its finest alongside Terrence Malick's 'The Thin Red Line.' Oliver Stone successfully includes several instances of war crimes and crimes against humanity the US military committed towards innocent Vietnamese civilians that regularly happens and still happening today in the Iraq war.

All the President's Men review

Posted : 2 years, 3 months ago on 24 January 2022 07:28 (A review of All the President's Men)

This is an incredibly powerful film that accurately dramatizes how true investigative journalism is done to expose the crimes of our leaders. The film is just as relevant as ever when journalists like Julian Assange is being illegally tortured for simply doing his job as a journalist.

Taxi Driver review

Posted : 2 years, 3 months ago on 24 January 2022 07:26 (A review of Taxi Driver)

This film is just as relevant today as it highlights the global terrorism committed by the United States foreign policy hitting back at home. The rise in domestic violence and terrorism in the United States is clearly rooted on the decreased quality of life of majority working class Americans as well as veterans not being properly taken care of after permanently suffering from participating in the war crimes of the United States.

What a brilliantly underrated film. It'll change your life especially the incredible speeches by Peter Finch portraying the character Howard Beale.

Don't Look Up review

Posted : 2 years, 3 months ago on 24 January 2022 07:18 (A review of Don't Look Up)

This is an insanely powerful and life-changing film that is frighteningly relevant to reflect on today's times like the anti-science denial of the real global threat of the climate crisis in our media as well as giant corporations bribing our political leaders. It is refreshing to see such a film like this on Netflix where it legitimately criticizes many aspects of the anti-intellectual United States. Leonardo DiCaprio's outburst reminds me of Peter Finch's brilliant portrayal of Howard Beale in the film 'Network.'

I Am Not Your Negro review

Posted : 2 years, 3 months ago on 24 January 2022 07:09 (A review of I Am Not Your Negro)

What a powerful, life-changing documentary that has audiences reflect on the greatest orators during the civil rights movement still relevant to this day. Systemic racism in the United States is the reality that must be confronted.
