Gran Turismo 5 review

Posted : 2 years, 9 months ago on 12 July 2021 08:13 (A review of Gran Turismo 5)

I am debating whether this game deserves an 8 or a 9. Thus far, this is one of the most addicting and deep single-player racing simulators I have ever experienced. Some of the single-player options like B-spec are not as enjoyable as the other options. Overall, I cannot put the controller down for several hours straight every play session. The game offers so much enjoyment.

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit review

Posted : 2 years, 9 months ago on 9 July 2021 02:10 (A review of Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit)

What a fantastic single-player experience. It's extremely rewarding compared with Hot Pursuit 2. Unfortunately, this game does not support any split-screen multiplayer & free race circuit like most racing games from the last generation. This is completely unacceptable & backwards. What were they thinking?!

Batman: Arkham City review

Posted : 2 years, 9 months ago on 8 July 2021 06:28 (A review of Batman: Arkham City)

Overall, the sequel is an improvement over the original game in terms of significantly expanded game design and controls that merge so well with its open world exploration of progressing through the main quests and side quests. Such an incredible game! Arkham Asylum may have had a different approach, but its atmosphere and story is still the highlight for me that still makes it nearly neck-and-neck with Arkham City.

Batman: Arkham Asylum review

Posted : 2 years, 9 months ago on 8 July 2021 06:24 (A review of Batman: Arkham Asylum)

Such a fantastic game in terms of its atmosphere, combo system, gadgets, and Riddler bonus quests that merge so well with its main quest. There are some pros and cons between this game and the superior Arkham City sequel, and one of the strong highlights of this game is its incredible atmosphere and story.

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 review

Posted : 2 years, 9 months ago on 8 July 2021 06:08 (A review of Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2)

This port from the superior PS2 original is a mixed bag of good and bad. About half of its single player experience is manageable and rewarding as I racked up points for avoiding pursuits & cautiously driving a distance away from obstacles and other vehicles to maintain 1st place, but the game falls apart with its faster vehicles, the computer-controlled vehicles start to become extremely brutal the second half of the single-player experience, and the game's physics overall is terrible. These cars are extremely sensitive to any touch of obstacles or nearby vehicles.

Gran Turismo 2 review

Posted : 2 years, 9 months ago on 8 July 2021 06:00 (A review of Gran Turismo 2)

Several times better than the original. Excellent racing physics, plenty of things to do, and so many variations of vehicles to try out. All this combined enhances its replay value. There's always ways to improve yourself by trying out different vehicle classes, computer difficulty, and different modes.

R4: Ridge Racer Type 4 review

Posted : 2 years, 9 months ago on 8 July 2021 05:57 (A review of R4: Ridge Racer Type 4)

Such a great game with a simple overall approach in its scope and game design, but has plenty of depth. This game surprised me. The most significant downside is its repetitive single-player, which is required to unlock all the vehicles.

The Gods Must Be Crazy II (1989) review

Posted : 2 years, 10 months ago on 8 June 2021 08:07 (A review of The Gods Must Be Crazy II (1989))

This is such a highly entertaining film with a fantastically immersive story. It's not as funny as the original. Referencing international law was a nice touch.

The Gods Must Be Crazy (1980) review

Posted : 2 years, 10 months ago on 7 June 2021 10:08 (A review of The Gods Must Be Crazy (1980))

This is such a brilliant, classic comedy with some incredible messaging worth reflecting on today starting from the beginning narrative describing a people meant to help us understand the Native Americans prior to colonialism. It's so fascinating how such communities are good without the need for law enforcement. The film explores the possible origins of violence and hate through individuality, jealousy, and property.

The Last King of Scotland review

Posted : 2 years, 10 months ago on 6 June 2021 11:36 (A review of The Last King of Scotland)

I was thoroughly entertained by this film from start to finish that does a decent job highlighting Idi Amin's brutal rise to power with incredible storytelling style and phenomenal acting, but it does lack vital context that could've made it a more life-changing cinematic experience that exposes the origins of this event. Not as powerful as Kevin Macdonald's greatest film, 'The Mauritanian.'
